What's new
The 15 most recent releases, newest first. The app updates itself; see the full changelog for every release since the first one.
v0.1.273 — Compress sounds already in your library
- New: Settings → Library → Compress library sounds. WAV sounds stored in your library become FLAC: the same sound, about half the space. Each file is checked to decode to exactly the same audio before it is kept; the few that can't be stored exactly stay WAV. The change finishes when Noctívago next starts, so nothing you are playing is interrupted. Sounds you play from their own folder are never touched.
v0.1.272 — Sleep timer stays off after an update
- Fix: after an update restarted the app, the sleep timer's "Start this timer every time Noctívago opens" notice came back and started the timer, even if you had clicked "Don't start". An update restart now continues your session: a timer you skipped stays off, a running one keeps running, and the notice only returns if it was still counting down when the update started. Opening the app yourself works as before.
v0.1.271 — Bigger community presets
- A community preset can now be up to 80 MB (was 50 MB), so presets with long sounds need "Cut to 15 s" less often.
- Community storage no longer fills up and stops uploads: when it gets full, the oldest presets are removed to make room for new ones.
- The phone app can now download only its own copy of a community preset (Beach: about 7 MB instead of 46 MB).
v0.1.270 — Community presets play on the phone
- Sharing a preset to Community now also packs a phone copy: the same sounds baked the way "Export for phone" does (every Remix effect, Sound Group and whole-mix reverb applied). The phone app's Community tab plays that copy, so it sounds exactly like the PC. Presets shared before this version don't have it yet: share them again to update them.
- Sharing takes a little longer (each sound is baked once more), and the upload grows by roughly a sixth (Beach: about 7 MB on top of 41 MB). The 50 MB limit counts both.
- Older versions of Noctívago still download these presets as before; they ignore the phone copy.
v0.1.269 — Phone presets with special characters in file names
- Fix: a phone preset failed to import on the phone ("missing the audio for…") when a sound's file name had an accent or a special character (é, ç, ã, a wide "|" bar). Every preset file now marks its file names as UTF-8, so the phone, Windows Explorer and 7-Zip read them the same way Noctívago does. Export the preset For phone again to get a fixed file; the phone app 0.4.1 also opens the files exported before this fix.
v0.1.268 — Export for phone
- Getting ready for the Noctívago phone app: Export can now save a preset "For phone". Pick it in the Export tab's Format list (needs Export plugin 1.1.0). It writes a preset file with every sound's Remix settings and all reverb already baked in, so the phone only has to mix. On the Beach preset: 18 sounds in 27 seconds, a 7 MB file. A loop longer than 10 minutes ships as its middle 15 seconds, and the result warns you when a preset may need too much memory for a phone.
v0.1.267 — Auto-started sleep timer asks first
- When the sleep timer is set to start every time Noctívago opens, it now tells you first. A notice says what the timer will do and how long it is, and counts down 20 seconds before starting. "Don't start" skips it this time; "Start now" starts it right away.
v0.1.266 — Only one copy of the app opens
- Opening Noctívago while it's already running now brings back the open window instead of starting a second copy. This covers clicking the pinned taskbar icon while the app sits in the tray or is minimized.
v0.1.265 — Sleep timer can start on its own
- New in the sleep timer: "Start this timer every time Noctívago opens." Tick it once and every launch starts a timer with the last minutes (or time of day) and action you used, with no need to open the timer. Untick it in the same place to stop. A timer still running from before you closed the app is resumed instead of being replaced.
v0.1.264 — Faster exports with pitched sounds
- Exports with Random Interval or Scheduled sounds that change pitch each play are much faster. Each pitch is now prepared once and reused, instead of once for every single play. On a 1-hour beach mix the whole export went from 71 seconds to 43; long exports gain much more. Pitches can differ from before by a tiny, inaudible amount.
- Long Opus exports no longer slow down near the end. The last part of a 9-hour export used to re-read hours of each looping sound before mixing it. The result is identical.
v0.1.263 — Faster Opus exports
- With "Faster export" on, saving to Opus mixes and compresses several stretches of the export at once instead of one long pass. On a 1-hour beach mix the last step went from 43 seconds to about 20; longer exports gain more. The result sounds the same.
v0.1.260 — Faster long exports
- Long exports are faster again. Sounds that play now and then are combined with much less wasted work, and saving to MP3, Opus, FLAC or Ogg now happens while the mix is still being made instead of after it. A 9-hour beach mix went from about 19 minutes to under 16 (a 1-hour version: 2:22 to 1:33). The result sounds the same.
v0.1.259 — A title bar that matches the app
- The window has its own dark title bar now instead of the plain Windows one: the app icon and name on the left, and minimize, maximize and close in matching colors on the right. Dragging, double-click to maximize and Windows snap layouts work as before.
v0.1.258 — Faster exports for sounds that play rarely
- Exports are much faster when a Random Interval or Scheduled sound plays only now and then. A sound playing every few minutes across a long export used to be prepared as one piece as long as the whole export, which could take many minutes on its own. On a test 9-hour beach mix, the whole export went from 13.5 minutes to just over 2. The result sounds the same.
v0.1.257 — Much faster YouTube imports
- Adding a sound from YouTube is now dozens of times faster. Ten minutes of an 8-hour rain video used to take about 5 minutes to download; now it takes around 10 to 15 seconds. Works in Add from link and Browse Sounds. If the fast way doesn't work for a link, the app quietly uses the old one.
